Sonnet

Will you see the sacrifice
as it lays dying at your feet,
wound gaping - an open sore -
stabbed by love?
Will you recognize they died
of hunger - though they slaked
their thirst with love, you
provided no nutrition, no succor?
Will you see life left them
through a failure of the heart -
you kept wanting more; demanding
more, and returned hollow affection?
They sacrificed themselves breaking their hearts,
going hungry that you might feel loved. Did you?

Want

I want to go hungry
while chasing my dreams.

I want to feel the lean uncertainty
of the future stretched out before me.

I want to know my limits,
how much can I take?

I want the hard edge
of one who has sacrificed all.

I want to simplify,
casting out the complexity I cannot control.

I want to race before the sun
and feel its fire in my soul.

I want to know enough
because I tire of wanting.

I want nothing,
for I have everything.

Wandering

I wander through the endless wonders
of this bold world I have created.
Lost.
Seeking.
Searching.
Scattered.
Adrift in an ocean of dreams
I ride waves of rage
in a storm built by living.
I cling to the splintered sides
of my raft in hope
we can follow the map of the stars
to the calm waters of a safe harbor
away from the eye of the storm.
