what I don't know
dwarves what I do,
of this, I'm certain;

am I able
to apply this understanding
in a polarizing world,

to listen and to learn,
without the prejudice
of assumptions,

can I forget my certainties
and open myself up
to all I don't know,

it is the most difficult question
of this life:
can I change

The Well

I keep going
to the well
expecting to find
change,

I am met
with the same
acrid waters,

is my mistake
in taking 
the same path
to the same destination
and expecting to find
something new

should I be seeking
a different route,
looking in a different direction

what part of this equation 
do I control,

in that answer
lies the answer

Wrestling Change

change is everywhere,
we wrestle it
as though we might win,
halting its progress;

we do not fight the seasons,
though we may not
like their shifts,
we understand 
their inevitability
lies beyond our control,
we flow with them;

so too we must flow
within our lives,
adapt to all
that moves around us,
seek out opportunities
to grow;

this is not new,
take a moment
to look within,
discover the subtle shifts
that have taken place 
over time:
see the wisdom
change has brought
