where are the silent spaces
I can lose myself within;
our world has been designed
to fit in our pockets,
traveling to the remotest locales,
how do we truly disconnect;
I find myself afflicted
with this diseased need
for attachment,
I can feel it eating away
at who I want to be -
I struggle to find silence,
I can't find Nature,
I'm losing sight
of me

Slowing Down
can we stop,
can we slow ourselves enough
to see the broken beauty
in the world;
our pace is so fast -
"on to the next"
we cry
before what is before us
is finished,
do we take any pleasure
in that which we have made
or the journey to get there,
have we even taken in
the simple pleasures
of the world
that surrounds,
we are too caught up
in the complex problems
we create for ourselves
we miss the beautiful simplicity
around us,
we mistake it
for another object
to be consumed
as we make more
of what we don't need,
what if we slowed down
for beauty,
what if we stopped
to love
would we become
more whole,
would the world
Forward
time spent questioning
your life
would be better spent
on its improvement,
what power is there
in playing the victim,
in becoming
a self-made martyr;
your strength
comes from experience,
that takes living,
facing down the challenges
of each day,
adapting, overcoming,
moving ahead,
carrying on
that is your path:
